A community through whom God can bring spiritual life to Westchester County and beyond; A community known for being loving, active and Christ-centered; A community that is experiencing and communicating the transforming power of God's Word and Spirit in real, relevant and creative ways.

Our Beliefs:

'We have this hope as an anchor for the soul, firm and secure...' Hebrews 6:19

Biblically centered beliefs can serve as a source of stability in a chaotic and confusing world. They form a reliable foundation from which we can live a fulfilling life. Beliefs also function as a roadway to help us reach a desired destination. Just as ancient anchors included a system of ropes by which a ship was safely guided through stormy harbors, our beliefs can guide us to a meaningful relationship with our Creator.

We hold these foundational biblical beliefs to be profound truths that should steer our every thought and action. They are worthy of study, discussion and contemplation --three things we consider very important at Westchester Chapel. We hope that this brief summary will explain the foundational beliefs of our church and help you find a reliable foundation, a guide toward a deeper relationship with God.

The Trinity
We believe in one God, revealed to us in three Persons --Father, Son and Holy Spirit --all equal in their eternal power and Godly nature.
(Genesis 1; Isaiah 5:16, 6:1-7, 40:18-31; Matthew 3:16-17, 28:19-20; John 14:6-27)

Jesus Christ
We believe that Jesus Christ is fully human and fully God and that He has existed eternally, equal with God in every way. This is seen in the miracle of His virgin birth, His death on the Cross, and His rising from the dead.
(Matthew 1:20-25, 16:15-16; Luke 1:26-35; Romans 8:3, 8:32-34)

The Holy Spirit
We believe in the power of the Holy Spirit, that He is God, and that He has the ability to supernaturally guide our lives into patterns that are healthy for us and pleasing to our Creator. We believe that through the filling of the Holy Spirit we are brought into a complete devotion to God and empowered to live a life of love, purity and service, leading to spiritual maturity. ( John 7:39, 14:15-18,26, 16:7-15;
Acts 2:33, 15:8-9; 1 Thessalonians 4:7-8)

The Bible
We believe the Bible is a unique document, written by people, yet fully inspired by God. It contains all the information required for finding salvation and living a truly Christian life.(Luke 24:44-47;
1 Corinthians 15:3-4; 2 Timothy 3:15-17)

Salvation
We believe that we inherited a corrupt nature at birth that leads us towards evil. The death of Jesus on the cross is the only cure for mankind's corrupted nature. The acceptance and belief of this truth along with repentance, brings us complete forgiveness by God, new life, and salvation. We believe that this salvation is offered by God's grace, as a free gift and that it cannot be earned through any human endeavor. (Isaiah 53:5-6, 11; John 1:29, 3:14-17; Romans 3:21-26, 4:17-25, 5:6 21)

The Return of Jesus Christ
We believe that the future includes the return of Jesus Christ and the final judgment. Here all evil will be brought to justice and those found innocent because of their trust in Jesus Christ will live in an entirely new creation, free from death, disease and hunger. (Matthew 25:31-46; Philippians 3:20-21; Hebrews 9:26-28)

Our Priorities
Westchester Chapel is a growing and learning community. As such, we place a high value on three priorities that will help us put our growing knowledge of God into action. First, we believe that the Bible contains liberating truth. encouragement and wisdom. It is a God-designed handbook for living an effective and fulfilling life. We see Bible reading and study as an ongoing lifetime endeavor critical to our growth as Christian people. We also emphasize the value of prayer. Our God can and does operate outside the boundaries of nature, making Him supernatural. In our skeptical world, we choose to place our faith in Him for all our needs, hopes and concerns. We believe He cares for us and stands ready to listen and act. Lastly, we value relationships with one another. It's important to God that we operate as a loving family, a place where we can receive care, encouragement and challenge to be all God would have us be.

Additional Information
This information was intended to give a brief overview of some of our beliefs. There are areas that we were not able to cover in this limited format. If you would like more information about Westchester Chapel beliefs please call our offices at (914) 304-4263.

Denominational Affiliation:

WCCC is proud to be a 'Church of the Nazarene'. The Church of the Nazarene is a worldwide denomination founded on the Gospel message of Jesus Christ and the truth of scripture. The denomination has more than one million members in more than 90 countries. Within the Metro New York District there are more than 100 churches sharing the gospel of Jesus Christ in many languages including Spanish, Korean, Portuguese, Urdu and Chinese.

Our denomination has its early foundations in the Methodist revivals of the 1700s and the Church of the Nazarene officially began its mission in 1908. The Nazarene Church has grown because of its focus on Jesus Christ, the Bible as the word of God, and an international mission to bring the Gospel and its offer of wholeness to the world.
